The Pediatric Neurosurgery team has won numerous awards and grants that recognize and support their important research, including:
2012
Dr. Jeffrey Greenfield was awarded $75,000 from the Matthew Larson Foundation to pursue research into how low-grade tumors transform into invasive malignancies.
Dr. Mark Souweidane was awarded a $97,000 grant from The Cure Starts Now to support his research into children's brain tumors.
2011
The Christian Rivera Foundation awarded Dr. Mark Souweidane $80,000 to continue his research and clinical trial for DIPG.
Dr. Mark Souweidane was awarded $200,000 from the Dana Neuroimmunology Foundation to study "Theragnostic Use of 124I –Monoclonal Antibody Delivered By Convection-Enhanced Delivery for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma in Children."
United Therapeutics awarded Dr. Mark Souweidane a two-year, $100,000 grant for "Radio-Labeled Monoclonal Antibody in the Treatment of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma."
2010
The Christian Rivera Foundation awarded Dr. Mark Souweidane $30,000 for a "Phase I Study of Convection-Enhanced Delivery of 124I-8H9 for Patients with Non-Progressive Diffuse Pontine Gliomas Previously Treated with External Beam Radiation Therapy."
Dr. Jeffrey Greenfield was named the Victor and Tara Menezes Clinical Scholar Award winner in Neuroscience. He will hold this endowed position until 2015.
The Beez Foundation Inc. Research Fund awarded Dr. Mark Souweidane $10,000 for Multi-drug Targeted Therapy in Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma.
Dr. Mark Souweidane was awarded a two-year, $100,000 grant from the St. Baldrick's Foundation for research on "Radio-Labeled Monoclonal Antibody in the Treatment of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma."
